Billy James is a composer and sound-artist based in London. He makes music about the natural in the unnatural, memory and longing, language and speech, algorithms and procedural generation and the psychological atmospheres of late-stage market societies.

He is based in South-East London and currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. He has had pieces and installations played at the London International Screen Dance Festival and Trinity Laban's 2025 Showcase event as well as a range of concerts self-organised with friends across churches, galleries and practice rooms around London. In 2025 he won Trinity Laban's 'Silver Medal' for excellence in composition.

He is an experienced user of Max/MSP and Da Vinci Resolve alongside DAWs and notation software. He has studied under Alex Paxton, Paul Newland, Peter Nagle, Dominic Murcott, Nye Parry and Matt Roberts.
